Avant National Short Story Competition

Each year, Melbourne’s Box Hill Institute conducts a national short story competition. It is run by the professional writing and editing students under the imprint Avant Press. The imprint was established by the students as a customised publishing business to help launch new work into the marketplace. The aim of the Avant National Short Story Competition is to discover talented new writers and offer them exposure to the marketplace. The winners collect cheques and are published in the annual Avant Anthology, which is launched in late November at Angus & Roberston Bookstore, Box Hill.
